You are desperately searching for a solution to avoid any fear or pain while trying to insert something into the vagina.
You feel overwhelmed - there is so much conflicting information out there!
Perhaps you are at the beginning of your journey, or you have searched online, visited doctors, tried various things, and still aren't quite sure what to do.
You are frustrated because you feel pain and discomfort when trying to insert something into the vagina.
All of this inhibits you and completely disrupts your own bodily sensations.
It can be difficult to talk about. You feel ashamed. Finding a solution is difficult when you don't know what it is and that this condition is called vaginismus.
Do I have vaginismus?
AT LEAST ONE OR EVEN MORE OF THE FOLLOWING POINTS:
→ Problems with vaginal penetration during sexual intercourse or attempted sexual intercourse.
→ Pain in the genital area or pelvis during vaginal intercourse or attempted sexual intercourse.
→ Fear of pain in anticipation, during, or as a result of vaginal penetration.
→ Tension in the pelvic floor muscles during attempted vaginal penetration.
These symptoms have been present for more than six months
the symptoms cause significant distress.
→ There are no other non-sexual psychological disorders
→ OR stress factors (such as partner violence)
→ Or effects of medication or other medical conditions (such as estrogen deficiency in menopause or skin conditions such as lichen sclerosus)
1 + 2 + 3 = vaginismus
If you can answer yes to all three statements, it is very likely that you have vaginismus.
Lets get things straight
If something comes near your vaginal opening or touches you there, you experience the following and you:
❗ feel a tightness in your lower abdomen.
❗feel fear that something life-threatening will happen.
❗can`t touch any area down there because it causes pain.
❗feel your pelvic floor muscles tensing up
❗can't insert anything into the vagina.
Then it's likely that you're suffering from vaginismus.
But that`s not all you...
- You can't use tampons or menstrual cups.
- You often avoid situations where something is inserted into the vagina, such as a visit to the gynecologist.
- You experience pain when attempting to have sexual intercourse with vaginal penetration.
- You feel anxiety in anticipation of sex, which triggers pain.
- You have difficulty getting pregnant because you can't have sex with penetration.
What the f*ck?
Fear and pain hold you back and limit you...
Because that's what it´s like, right?
It can be difficult and painful to live with vaginismus, and it's normal to think that you are responsible for it.
But vaginismus is NOT your fault!
It is a condition that can affect women of all ages and backgrounds.
There are many different reasons why vaginismus develops.
After all, one in ten women worldwide are affected by it!
And if you don't want to insert anything into the vagina, then you don't have any problems at all!
Let me explain...
The muscle spasm causes the pain.
Even the fear of pain can already "hurt".
BUT vaginismus is not just a muscle spasm - that's just the tip of the iceberg!
It's an anxiety reaction cycle, and the muscle spasm is the reflex that goes along with it.
This cycle leads to the same feeling you would get if you suddenly encountered a lion.
You are about to be eaten, you need to run away or fight!
Your whole body reacts in shock automatically, you are no longer in control.
All your senses are sharp; you hear, see and feel everything very precisely.
It's about survival.
As soon as the "lion" withdraws, you feel relieved but totally frustrated!
The lion can be a friend/husband, a doctor, a tampon...
And every time something like this happens to you, your body learns that it has successfully protected you...
The downside is: the reaction will unfold faster and "better" next time!
Let`s do a quick and easy exercise...
Cough hard and pay attention to your pelvic floor.
Do you feel it tensing up?
Can you prevent it? Try coughing again without tensing the muscles. You can't, right? That's an involuntary spasm. And the muscle reflex in vaginismus is also an involuntary, unconscious tension.
You didn't choose this, you can't control it, but it makes vaginal penetration painful.
The good thing is...
This anxiety reaction cycle can be reconditioned and completely disappear.
Isn't that really difficult?
Yes, of course.
Overcoming vaginismus is a journey towards self-determination and control over your own body.
You will no longer feel limited or defined by vaginismus, and any doubts or fears about not being a 'normal' woman will disappear.
With the freedom to choose what you want for your own body, you will be able to explore your own desires and experience pleasure in your own way.
Whether you are seeking intimacy with your partner, starting a family, wanting to feel free, traveling the world, or checking your health with your gynaecologist - you have the power to make these decisions based on your own needs.
Don't let vaginismus hold you back from the life you deserve. Take the first step towards self-determination and start your journey today!Yes! I want to start now!
Regain control and inner peace!

My entire future is now different - that's worth millions."
"After 2 weeks of exercises, I slept with my boyfriend for the first time!
Tampons a huge problem, going to see the gynaecologist was an even bigger problem, having sex with my boyfriend - impossible!

I kept asking myself this question over and over again, year in and year out.
After visiting a forum and talking about Dr. Reeve, I thought she was just an incredibly good writer. My name is not Riette, that's my pseudonym! BUT what I'm writing is real. Three days with Dr. Reeve and after just two weeks of dilator exercises, I slept with my boyfriend for the first time!"

My unique background led me to become an expert at helping women overcome vaginismus. I am a gynaecologist, obstetrician, psychotherapist, sexologist, vaginismus therapy specialist.
I’ve created the Living With Sex Online Course based on my success in helping patients just like you to be able to overcome vaginismus. I have helped them experience pleasure during sex, get pregnant, re-claim their confidence, stop their fear, and anxiety, so they can have pain and fear-free sex and most importantly, go on to feel secure in their relationships.
"For me, the biggest step was to decide to trust in the therapy. I couldn't imagine that it could ever help so fast. I had been suffering for so long. I had tried everything from hypnosis to Botox nothing helped, I had always been disappointed. This was going to be my last attempt at finding peace. I couldn't believe it would help within just 30 days. I am so glad my husband and I didn't lose faith - we had pain-free sex within just 10 days of therapy. I still can't believe it."
- Jana (34 years old)
